Blackburn's Resort

po Welcome to Blackburn's Resort's Norfork Lake Scuba Diving Report. Our Scuba report is updated about once every 15 days, or as scuba conditions change. While the diving report will mostly report on Spearfishing it will also be covering other dive activities on Norfork lake. We'd appreciate your feedback on what you would like to see in our Scuba diving report. Thanks!

This will be the last Norfork Lake scuba diving report of the 2009 season.
I am having withdrawals already! The Norfork lake water temperature was 64 degrees as of this morning and the lake level is about 564 and rising. Blackburn's Resort had several October Spear fishermen this year and they did well. They did not get large numbers but they did get big fish. I usually go diving until Thanksgiving but needless to say the rain has been incessant and the runoff along with the cloudy skies have made the lake visibility difficult the last two weeks. I speared some nice fish but it took more effort than normal with my fishing partner taking two vacations right at the end of the season. He has a wife and I do not.

Diving for catfish was steady all year as was the crappie fishing. I shot no stripers or hybrids but many nice white bass. Walleye was great early but tapered off and did not come back strong in the fall like normal but nothing has been normal.

Wash your wetsuits in mild detergent in the bathtub and hang in a airy space. Store your gear in a cool dry place and make sure your spear gun is not cocked. Wipe down the spear with light oil to prevent rusting. Relieve pressure from regulator and BC.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to e-mail me at blackburnsresort@centurytel.net.
